New Information About Jams Will be Posted Below

NEXT MEET: Saturday
Errr....3ish? Meet downtown at the parking lot near Wells Fargo and that...one street...one sec, google maps.

Citrus and 6th. There's a sort of parking lot that is elevated...it was free a few weeks ago. Meet at the staircase on the lower end of it.

-------------------------------

Gymnastics gymnasium every tuesday. We generally meet up at 730 to head out, and get back around 1020. It's 5 dollars to get in, and would be from 8 - 10, which if you drill HARD during that time, should be more than AMPLE time. Two hours of practicing kongs, dashes, kashes, and flips will leave you unable to walk the next morning.=P
Anyways, it's $5 to get in, and HUOMAKE HAS A CAR!
Who: Absolutely anybody is able to attend any of our out-of-gym jams, age and experience don't matter. We'll be more than happy to instruct you and give you advice, so don't be afraid to ask for help.

When: 3 sessions a week, with hopefully one of those sessions (likely a weekend one) being to a gymnastics gymnasium, or on a 'field-trip'.

Where: Before any jam, we will always meet in front of the church, parallel to the quad. Most likely i'll be sitting on the steps while waiting for people to show up, but we might move to the quad to do warm ups. It won't be too difficult to find us. I'll post map directions soon. We will warm up for 15 minutes after the scheduled meet time, and then head out. PM me if you need my number and you think you'll have problems finding the place/getting their on time.

Why: Because we can!

Directions to the Quad:
We will meet at and stretch on the Quad in front of the Chapel. From there we go off campus. If you are driving on Colton, you want to be going east (uphill) if you are coming from the movie theater, Trader Joe's, etc. Go west (downhill) if you are in the other direction (towards the mountains). Colton passes straight through the campus with a total of 3 crosswalks. Near the second crosswalk you will see the tennis courts. Between the second and third crosswalks, you should see a giant grass area with a large building that has a giant clock on it. The building with the clock is the Chapel, and the big grass area is the Quad. We meet on the Quad directly across from the Chapel.

Now would be the time to post on what days sessions would work best for you. I know pretty much any day except thursday is good for me.

Hi, I'm Mark, I'm a new freshman. This summer? Nothing. Depressing, boring nothing.

I'm psyched to get started. I don't have my schedule yet, so I'll keep you posted on that...I don't sign up for classes until the 26th or so, so it could be a while.

But I can start hosting some sessions earlier, if anyone's interested. I can start on the 26th, whenever we have free. Maybe we can just hang out at the park across the street whenever we have open that day, it looks like they have stuff after 4, but 10-4 is pretty much independent.

The 27th is pretty much packed, too. But the 28th is the start of seminars, so when we're done with those we can rock some PK if you all are interested.

After that, on the 31st, we can all do stuff together and I'll leave it to you, mate.

Oh, also, um, a dean yelled at me and told me not to do PK on campus. He was very clear, no one is to do parkour on campus. At all. I'm still interested in fighting for it, so I'd like to talk with you veterans about first starting a club and then setting up meetings with campus safety, athletics, student life, whoever else we need. Let me know.

Oh, wow, you've already had a run in with a dean? LOL. You weren't jumping off the side of the admin building, were you? =P

Anyways, wow. I think that just kinda shows how difficult it'll be to get it sanctioned as a club, if their is already that mentality behind it. All i'm really concerned about is getting us into the club fair, and then afterwards i dont mind if we're an 'unofficial' club again, i just want to be able to get our names out there so anyone who might be potentially interested can sign up, and i believe that as long as you are in the process of attempting to become a club, you can show up at the fair.

As for doing PK before me and the other returning students show up, if you can find the elementary school (its about a block down) its got some great places to practice your wall runs, if you need that. (We got the cops called on us while we were there once, apparantly, there were some kids on the roof, *not* us though, we were meerly, uhh, playing tag out there... at 10 pm at night...)

Also, sylvan park (which i presume is the park you're talking about) has a ton of great places to practice kongs and monkeys and vaults, and if you follow the path you'll get to a river bed, and you can use the walls to jump wall-to-wall, or use the walls and bridges to practice tic-tacs and cats.

Anyways, those are what i got for the locations in walking distance of campus, off the top of my head. Have fun. =P

PS: I'm totally down for fighting with the school about getting it turned into an official club, because there are some amazing places on campus that i would love to trace.

Yeah I've been to the school as well. We'll look at it. That wall is HUGE.

Thanks for the suggestions and warnings.

I'm currently applying for a position at ESRI in Redlands and it looks as if I might get the job. If I do, it's likely I'll be able to jam with you guys sometimes.

Oh sick, i would love to PK it up with you again Eli, i've gotten so much better over the summer, i can do dashes, nearly kong full tables, and i got like a 15 foot wall climb the other day at SF state. Keep me updated.

@ares, yeah, but i only went there once, so i dont remember it too well, and never really fully explored it, but if you can give him directions, would work... How you been?

Ya, same situation here, i'm stuck in Sub-Urbia with a bunch of hardcore videogamers, and there arn't too many places to PK lest i head up to SF, which is actually turning out to be pretty promising. You should meet up with HuoMaKe when he arrives on the 26th, maybe show him some of the places, your chain-link fence precision, you know, the usual. =P

Anyways, i'll be down there on the 31st, so i'll catch ya'll then.

I moved all the SF/BA talk into a thread in Off-topic so this thread can be all about Redlands.
I'm looking forward to when these sessions pick up again. Anyone heading out soon?

sick, it's great to hear that you're feeling better. as for a scheduled training session, the answer is, unfortunantly no, not until i get back to redlands (first day will be august 31st, although i'm not sure if i'll be up for it my first day back, as i'm going to be moving all of my stuff out of storage and setting up my room/visiting old friends.). As for unofficial sessions, i know there are a couple of traceurs in the are that have already posted in this thread, and a few coming down as early as the 26th, so PM them if you wanna set up something earlier. =P

OK, so on the 25th, I'll be in CA. If anyone wants to jam then, reply here with a time that would work, I'll be there all day (I think). I'm also going to ask the freshman group on Facebook, so there may be a bunch of newbies who could use some guidance.

Looking forward to meeting everyone,
Mark

It will be at Sylvan Park. Mostly a hey-welcome-to-the-neighborhood for freshmen traceurs and any new people who happen to be in Redlands, I guess. I will also try to get a few completely new people there if possible.

OK, final plans are:
When: 1400 (2PM) on August 25th

Where: Sylvan Park, west of the University entrance on Colton. We'll congregate at the pavilion that is near University street, a bit south of the northeast corner of the park.

Who: Anyone who's in the area, I would love to have some veterans there, and I know a bunch of freshmen will be coming to meet the traceurs in the area.

Whyyy? Because we can!

I'll keep the thread updated, whenever I see an opportunity to train, I'll post it. So I'd track the thread (you can do that at the top of the page if you haven't already) and watch your email. I guess it'll only be for the first week, because that's when freshmen have irregular schedules, so after that it should be regular and I guess Thom will plan those. It'll be great fun the first couple of weeks I'm sure :)
