New season of classes have begun. If you're interested, class registration can be done either at the City of Stanton's City Hall or online (to view the classes, log in as a guest and look under the tab labeled "Fitness Programs").

*I don't think the online registration program prevents anyone from signing up for any class on the basis of age. Enroll for whatever session you want, and let me know if you have any problems signing up.

---------------------------------

Both classes are held at Dotson Park

---------------------------------

Sandbag Strength
Work your muscles in a way regular dumbbells can't.
Sandbags have been used for dynamic exercises in football,
martial arts, and weightlifting. Classes allow for fun partner
and group exercises. Bags can range from very light to
moderately heavy ? you choose which one you want to
use! Pre-registration is required.
15 years to 35 years 10/17/2009 to 11/07/2009 Sat $16 Dotson Park 9:30A to 10:30A

Parkour Training
Parkour is the discipline of moving from point A to B as
quickly and efficiently as possible. Learn to run, jump, crawl,
and climb through any environment in this full-body workout
that will challenge you physically and mentally. Classes
will be taught by an experienced Parkour instructor who
has been actively practicing for over 5 years. Pre-registration
is required.

What's up with that 15-30 years cutoff? That's messed up. :)

It's 12:30, it's time for a nap.

Pay no attention to that. It won't bar you from registering for the classes, and I'm not going to prevent anyone from taking any of the classes unless they're at seriously potential for risk.

Thanks guys. It's definitely gonna be fun.

Couple pictures I found online of one of the sites where a Parkour class will be held: -link- -link- . I wish you could get a better view of the entire area, but yes, that is a giant pirate ship playground. I'm also going to start building precision trainers and looking for scaffolding.

i used my old heavy bag(70 lbs for boxing) for sandbag carrying - are your sandbags like 10-20 lb kettlebell style or are they big monsters

Parkour is not competitive. If we don't train the new practitioners in safety, they will get hurt, and we will not be able to do parkour freely anymore. This is unacceptable.

Sandbags will range from 10-40lbs. If you come, I'll fill up the big boy bags that can be 80+lbs.

Nice. So the place is pre approved and everything so you do not have to worry about people telling you to go away. I wish I had that power. :P

People had trouble finding the park today so here are a map and directions that I'll also put in the original post. Kudos to those who did find it tho =P You guys definitely made the class more fun.

Map of Stanton Park (where the first 4 weeks of PK classes will be held)
*You must enter the park from Katella Ave and go south on Cedar St
*We meet towards the east end of the park at the last set of benches

Pre-registration is when you sign up for the class prior to when the class actually starts. The links to the pre-registration site are in my initial post. Just follow the website's directions to register for the parkour class. Let me know if you need further help.

We just finished our first session of classes at Stanton Park (yay!). This Saturday we'll be starting a new 4-week session at a brand new park, Dotson Park. First post has been updated with a map to the park with our fun pirate ship playground. Same time (Saturdays, 11:30am-1:30pm), new place. Typical class involves group conditioning followed by technique work and individual skills clinics where necessary. Pre-registration is also required for this round of classes.

Also: Sandbag Training class begins July 20 and is still available for those that want to try an alternative weightlifting method. Yup, chucking heavy things at each other can be workout. See first post for details.

PM me for more info or if you want my contact phone number. I can also be reached at wasab3(at)gmail.com

*Official summer classes have ended.

*Fall classes begin October 17. I'll be changing the structure of the classes by combining sandbag strength training to the previous classes' conditioning >=D More details later.

*In the meantime, we'll be continuing Saturday training sessions at Dotson Park as usual, just at an earlier time. Details below:
